“We grant dreams to critically and chronically ill
children to the deserving children of our community."
1980, The Dream Factory began with one all-volunteer chapter in Hopkinsville,
Kentucky. Since then, The Dream Factory has grown into the second-largest
children’s wish-granting organization in the United States.
Dream Factory is the only children’s wish-granting organization that does not
limit its mission to children who have life-threatening illness. The
organization believes children with chronic illnesses and disorders also suffer
from substantial emotional and physical pain. We strive to provide hope and
relief from the trauma and corresponding stress and depression that both the
children and their families can endure on a day-to-day basis. Doctors agree
that providing a dream can improve the quality of life for these children and
extend the life of a critically ill child.
struggling with critical or chronic illnesses like diabetes, cystic fibrosis or
cancer, the road may be all too short, and there is little time to realize such
big dreams. The Dream Factory exists for them.
1985, the Dream Factory of Oregon has remained dedicated to making dreams
come true for critically or chronically ill children in Oregon and SW Washington. As a 100 percent
volunteer organization, granting dreams is our mission, smiling children is our
vision. And in more than two decades, our devoted volunteers and generous
business supporters have created thousands of smiles. We are proud to say that
more than 90 percent of the funds raised or donated to the Portland chapter of
the Dream Factory remain right here, granting the dreams of deserving children
in our community.
Factory of Oregon grants dreams in all shapes and sizes. Just last year
we sent children to Disney World, helped a child who couldn't walk meet his
hero Diego Valeri of the Timbers, bought an all terrain wheel chair for a child
to go on outdoor adventures, sent a child to Hawaii on a family vacation and
another child to Orlando to a Polynesian Resort.
children and their families who live each day not knowing what the future may
bring, a dream granted brings a little ray of light, a little bit of hope and a
lifetime of memories.
